Well, since our last post we found out that we are expecting our very first baby! This is our baby's very first picture! You can see little hands and feet! Wow! Stephen interjects...Yeah, that's right! Stephen will no longer be Kal-El, but instead will be Jor-El *note: a fundamental understanding of Superman lore is required to fully appreciate this reference* Anywho, we actually found out the same night we posted our first entries on this little blog of ours. Needless to say, it has been a little hectic around here (except, of course, when I'm asleep at 8 o'clock at night). Then at least it's not hectic for me. We found out on Labor Day (ha! ha!), which is also my Grandma's birthday! We were excited and shocked all at the same time! We're going to wait until the baby is born to find out the sex so try to fight the urge to give us your opinion on this subject....just kidding! Besides, even if I wanted to know, Stephen wouldn't let me because he says it's like 9 months of Christmas Eve. He also made me promise this the second week we were dating...seven years ago! I knew what I was getting myself into! Our families are so excited, and we are beyond blessed to have the love and support of so many amazing people. We haven't made it completely public yet. We're waiting until the end of the first trimester to completely spill the beans. It's so hard not telling EVERYONE! The baby is due around Cinco de Mayo! Wahoo! Party at our house! I digress, we've seen Dr. White twice. Everything looks great! Yesterday, we had our first sonogram. It was AMAZING! I think I saw a tear in Stephen's eye. He was so cute. "That's our baby. I mean it's really ours!" Truthfully, I didn't expect to be able to see the baby so well, but we did! "B" (as my mom is referring to the baby instead of "it") even waved to us! Ah! How awesome! We heard the heartbeat for the first time. It made everything so real. We are so blessed. April, our ultrasound tech, was fabulous (as is everyone in Dr. White's office), and she told us we were exactly 9 weeks, 4 days along. I feel pretty good. Thankfully, I haven't fallen victim to horrendous morning sickness. I've had my moments, but it definitely sounds like I'm pretty fortunate. Aside from sheer exhaustion, everything has been smooth sailing! In addition, we found out our good friends, Jess and Mike, are expecting too! She's about one week further along than me. HOW FUN IS THAT?! It is going to be fantastic sharing this experience with them! Last weekend we also celebrated our first anniversary. We stayed at the JW Marriott in Orlando. We swam in the lazy river, ordered room service and relaxed all weekend. It was definitely some much needed R & R. It was fabulous! Well, it's almost an hour past my bedtime so I'll listen to my husband's outcries ("Save some of another blog!"..."What all are you typing??...Sigh...Sigh...) and go to bed! Keep our new little family in your prayers!
For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be. Psalm 139:13-16
